PENINGKATAN PRESTASI SISWA BERDASARKAN KOMPETENSI GURU DAN LINGKUNGAN SEKOLAH

Tujuan diadakan penelitian ini ialah agar hubungan diantara kompetensi guru, lingkungan sekolah dan prestasi akademik siswa dapat dipahami lebih mendalam. Fokus penelitiannya ditujukan terhadap sebuah SMA swasta karena pentingnya aspek pendidikan di lingkungan tersebut. Pendekatan yang dimanfaatkan ialah dengan kuantitatif melalui metode survei. Sampelnya ada 100 siswa dari salah satu SMA swasta di Surabaya yang dapat memberikan pemahaman secara representatif dari sekolah tersebut. Sampel acak sederhana dimanfaatkan untuk mengumpulkan respondennya. Analisisnya menggunakan regresi linier berganda yang dibantu dengan SPSS. Hasil penelitian ini menyimpulkan terkait kompetensi guru dan lingkungan sekolah berdampak terhadap prestasi akademik siswa dengan hasil yang signifikan dengan pengaruhnya yang parsial maupun simultan. Kemampuan guru yang mengajar dengan baik, memiliki pengetahuan di bidangnya dan keterampilan yang efektif memiliki kecenderungan yang lebih besar terhadap motivasi siswa sehingga materi pelajaran yang disampaikan oleh guru dapat dipahami. Di samping itu, kondusifnya lingkungan sekolah dengan fasilitasnya, dukungan administrasi, budaya inklusif berperan nyata untuk mewujudkan suksesnya prestasi akademik siswa. Dengan demikian, kompetensi guru dan lingkungan sekolah memang harus ditingkatkan sebagai investasi nyata dan berkelanjutan yang harus dimiliki oleh sekolah.
